Jens Aerts

Jens Aerts (born 1974, Antwerp) is a civil engineer and architect, who graduated in 1997 from the K.U. Leuven. He built the Ontmoetingscentrum Campus Arenberg at Heverlee, which was included in the Flanders Architectural Yearbook 2000-2001.

After experience in design studios at home and abroad, he specialised in urban planning. In 2001, he received a Master's degree in Urban Design in Barcelona. He was town planning adviser to the Flemish Government Architect's Team (2002-2004) and worked in the Cabinet of the Brussels Minister for Mobility and Public Works (2004-2009).


Jens Aerts is connected with the urban development association BUUR and is specialized in developing strategic vision, urban development, project coordination and supervision related to architecture and public domain.

Aerts is a board member of the "Vereniging voor Ruimte en Planning" and is responsible for the design and architectural supervision of the Kanaal site's masterplan.
