Jens Aerts

Jens Aerts (born 1974, Antwerp) is a civil engineer and architect, who graduated in 1997 from the K.U. Leuven. He built the Ontmoetingscentrum Campus Arenberg at Heverlee, which was included in the Flanders Architectural Yearbook 2000-2001.

After experience in design studios at home and abroad, he specialised in urban planning. In 2001, he received a Master's degree in Urban Design in Barcelona. He was town planning adviser to the Flemish Government Architect's Team (2002-2004) and worked in the Cabinet of the Brussels Minister for Mobility and Public Works (2004-2009).

Aerts is a board member of the Vereniging voor Ruimte en Planning (Association for Space & Planning) and a member of the Brussels collective Disturb. At the present time, he is active in BUUR.

Jens Aerts is responsible for the architectural master plan for the Kanaal Site.
